He is wearing the Marine Corps combat utility uniform with its unique Marine digital pattern. Marine Corps Systems Command and the Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center received the 2013 Millson Award from the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists for the uniform's design and innovations.
