Edwin A. Stewart serves as the Chief Engineer of Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) and Deputy to the Commander, Systems Engineering and Acquisition Logistics. He is responsible for directing enterprise-level systems engineering in support of command product lines and lifecycles to ensure MCSC provides end-to-end integrated, interoperable and certified warfighting capabilities.
Previously, Mr. Stewart served as the 12th Division Technical Director at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division, where he led a diverse team of scientists and engineers in support of research, development, test and evaluation mission sets, primarily in the littoral and coastal areas. He was responsible for executing more than 150 projects, overseeing 1,500 employees, managing an annual budget in excess of $500 million, and meeting annual operating business goals for carryover, overhead and net operating results.
Mr. Stewart joined the staff of NSWC in 1997 and has held positions of increasing responsibility. He became Deputy Technical Director in 2005, following two years as the Base Realignment and Closure Project Manager with Naval Sea Systems Command.
Mr. Stewart began his professional career with the Naval Sea Combat Systems Engineering Station in Norfolk, Virginia, supporting the current and future Fleet for combat support systems. He served as member and advisor of the Warfare Center Implementation Management Group, establishing both the Naval Undersea and Surface Warfare Centers in 1992.
An Old Dominion University alum, Mr. Stewart received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1985 and a Master of Business Administration degree in 1994. In 2009, he became a Massachusetts Institute of Technology Fellow after completing the Distinguished Seminar XXI Program. Stewart was promoted to Senior Scientific Technical Manager in 2011, and the federal government's Senior Executive Service in 2012.
Mr. Stewart has received numerous awards, including the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award in 2010 and 2020.
