Marine Corps and Army Assess South Korean UGV, Eyeing Future Capabilities - In mid-December, against the picturesque backdrop of Honolulu, Hawaii, Marines from the 3d Littoral Logistics Battalion, or LLB, engaged in a pivotal Foreign Comparative Test, or FCT, of a South Korean Unmanned Ground Vehicle, or UGV, prototype—marking a critical juncture in the Corps’ exploration of advanced unmanned technologies.

An AN/PRC-117G Adaptive Networking Wideband Waveform operates during a communications set up practical application on an MV-22 Osprey aboard Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz., on March 23, 2016. This practical application was apart of Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course (WTI 2-16), a seven week training event hosted by Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1) cadre. The Marine Corps’ new JLTV-Trailer comes loaded with features such as a step assist in the rear, air brakes, removable side rails, a 12v electrical hook in the front and a storage compartment. Offering 147 cubic feet of storage space and already coming painted green from the factory, the JLTV-T propels the light tactical vehicle fleet toward Force Design 2030. Marine Expeditionary Units and Divisions are expected to concurrently receive initial shipments of the trailer beginning fiscal year 2022. An artillery Marine from 1st Battalion, 12th Marines maneuvers a Navy/Marine Corps Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System launcher across the beach aboard Pacific Missile Range Facility Barking Sands, Hawaii, Aug. 16, 2021. During Large Scale Exercise 2021, the Marines of 1/12 struck a naval target ship with two Naval Strike Missiles which flew more than 100 nautical miles before striking the ship. The Marine Corps’ primary modernization priority in support of Force Design 2030 is fulfilling the requirement for a ground-based anti-ship missile capability.
