The Marine Corps’ Joint Light Tactical Vehicles has achieved initial operational capability. The JLTV will fully replace the Marine Corps’ aging High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle fleet. It comes in different variants with multiple mission package configurations, all providing protected, sustained, networked mobility that balances payload, performance and protection across the full range of military operations. Marine Corps releases solicitation for new lightweight hard armor plate - The Marine Corps released a request for proposal for a lightweight hard armor plate to lighten the load for Marines and allow commanders to adapt to the mission on the battlefield. Marine Corps Systems Command is seeking industry input for samples of potential lightweight plates to provide sufficient protection for the majority of combat environments. Corps looks to increase comms, lethality with next-gen hearing system - The Marine Corps released a request for information for a suite of hearing enhancement devices to help Marines communicate better and increase their lethality on the battlefield. Marine Corps Systems Command will assess industry’s capability to provide devices that are compatible with Marine Corps radios and the Marine Corps Enhanced Combat Helmet. The M2A1 is the Marine Corps’ latest upgrade to the legacy M2 machine gun and enhances Marines’ lethality and survivability on the battlefield. The M2A1 modernizes the M2 with major changes, including set headspace and timing, a quick change barrel, and flash hider that reduces the weapon’s signature by 95 percent.
