Uniform board looking for Marine artists

17 Jul 2002 | Capt. Chad Walton Marine Corps Systems Command

The Marine Corps Uniform Board is seeking talented Marine artists to help create illustrations of the new combat utility uniform. The board has traditionally created these illustrations, called uniform plates, to serve as supplements to the uniform regulations and a detailed historical record. "All the recent plates that have been done were done by Marines, said Capt. Daniel Dukes, secretary-recorder of the Marine Corps Uniform Board. "We want to keep this a 'Marine-thing' by allowing our artists to show what they can do."Marine artists are asked to contact the uniform board and submit portfolios displaying their abilities. The deadline for submissions is July 26. Details for the artist competition may be found in MARADMIN 324/02. Capt. Dukes can be reached at (703) 432-3264 or by e-mail at plateartist@nt.quantico.usmc.mil .
