— More than 40 students from Quantico Middle/High School participated in the 8th annual Quantico Summer Science, Technology, Engineering and Math—or STEM—Academy June 25-29 aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. The camp, hosted through a partnership between the school and Marine Corps Systems Command, gave sixth through eighth graders the opportunity to get hands-on experience through various STEM challenges.

Marine Corps engineers spark interest in STEM during annual festival
April 17, 2018
— Engineers from Marine Corps Systems Command were on the lookout for the next generation of engineers and scientists during the USA Science and Engineering Festival April 6-8 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Engineers from several MCSC program offices took part in the three-day event that aims to stimulate interest in science, technology, engineering and math—or STEM—for more than 350,000 students and attendees every year. The event includes over 3,000 exhibits from government agencies, academia, industry and STEM organizations nationwide. MCSC has participated for the past three years, highlighting how the Marine Corps uses STEM to develop equipment and weapon systems for Marines.

Marine colonel receives Black Engineer of the Year Award
March 9, 2018
— Stars and Stripes awarded Col. Dave Burton the Black Engineer of the Year Military Service Award during a ceremony Feb. 10, in Washington, D.C. Each year, Stars and Stripes recognizes an exemplary senior military officer who has served with distinction supporting the service’s efforts in mentorship, diversity and value-based service to the nation. The recipients also serve within commands responsible for procuring, developing or employing new technologies and systems. As program manager for Intelligence Systems at Marine Corps Systems Command, Burton manages the development and acquisition of intelligence systems and equipment for the Corps.
