At the Report to Industry event during Modern Day Marine aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico in September, a panel of three key figures in Marine Corps acquisition gave a loud and clear message to the hundreds of industry members in the audience: Our budget might be shrinking, but the need for new technologies and equipment is going to stay the same. Marine Corps Systems Command and Program Executive Officer Land Systems conduct an Advanced Planning Briefing to Industry (APBI) every two years, and the next event is scheduled to take place April 30 through May 2, 2012, at the Marriott Waterside Hotel in Norfolk, Va. The National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) is the organization managing the Marine Corps acquisition team’s APBI, and more information can be found on their website at http://www.ndia.org/meetings/2900/Pages/default.aspx.
