PM ICE Training Team

About the PM ICE Training Team

At the height of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), the need for rapid fielding of infantry combat equipment (ICE) resulted in Marines and Sailors receiving equipment with little to no training. To mitigate this, the Product Manager Infantry Combat Equipment (PdM ICE) Training Team (ITT) was established in 2010. The team consists of five, two-man teams spread throughout the Operating forces. The teams are located in the National Capital Region (NCR), I MEF, II MEF, III MEF Hawaii, and III MEF Okinawa. The teams are prepared to educate and train both active and Reserve forces.

As new equipment is procured and scheduled for fielding, the ITT Lead, along with the Project Officer and Manpower, Personnel, and Training (MPT) Lead determine the level of training and education needed. The levels include the following:

  1. No training required.
  2. The development of on hand (Practical Application) training packages that are presented to Marines at their home stations.
  3. The development of training videos available to Marines on the World Wide Web.
  4. Combination of levels 2 and 3 above.

The training videos are available on MCSC YouTube Channel and the Defense Video & Imagery Distribution System (DVIDS).  Current videos are available for viewing on the ICE Training Video page.

To further assist in educating Marines on the ICE being fielded, Training and Education Command (TECOM) has formally included the PdM ICE brief into the Program of Instruction (POI) for the Advanced Course of the Staff Non-Commissioned Officers Academy (SNCOA). This brief is presented as an educational brief (not a training session).  It affords the Marines attending the academy the opportunity to get introduced to the new equipment being fielded, as well as informing them of training opportunities upon their return to their parent commands.
