MCTSSA conducts systems operability testing aboard USS Boxer
October 2, 2018
— Engineers and technical experts from Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity conducted systems operability testing in September aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4) in support of 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit operations. Amphibious warships must be able to sail in harm’s way and provide a rapid buildup of combat power ashore in the face of opposition. This requires cyber-enabled network Marines to integrate shipboard systems, and provide combatant commanders real-time command and control capabilities.

Marine Corps awards contract for lighter-weight body armor to better fit all Marines
September 27, 2018
— Marine Corps Systems Command has awarded a contract to produce Plate Carrier Generation IIIs – a move that will help Marines increase their mobility and keep them safe through training and deployments. Vertical Protective Apparel, LLC, of Shrewsbury, New Jersey, was awarded a $62,612,464 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to produce and deliver the PC Gen IIIs. A maximum quantity of 225,886 will be delivered, and the work will be completed by September 2023.

MCTSSA Marine rushes to aid car crash victim
September 25, 2018
— A Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity Marine was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal Sept. 12, for life-saving actions he took to aid a car crash victim in August. Capt. Michael Bates, a father of two and native of Carleton, Michigan, was recently on leave from his duty station at Camp Pendleton, California. He witnessed a vehicle crash while traveling along Highway 25 in Rocky Top, Tennessee, approximately 25 miles northwest of Knoxville, and was first on the scene to render aid.

MCSC supports 2018 Modern Day Marine Expo

— Marine Corps Systems Command will support the Modern Day Marine Military Exposition Sept. 25-27, aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico. The annual event showcases the latest innovations in military equipment and systems, designed specifically to address the evolving, expeditionary needs of the Marine Corps. During the three-day event, members of industry, military leaders and Marines will have the opportunity to interact with MCSC, and experience some of the systems and technology used by Marines in the fleet.

MCTSSA personnel welcomes Vietnam veterans, share legacy

— Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity welcomed Vietnam veterans from Marine Air Support Squadron 3 to MCTSSA’s headquarters aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton this summer. MCTSSA hosted the veterans and their family members, who hail from all over the country, as part of a 50th reunion tour that took them to various units across base.

Corps looks to increase comms, lethality with next-gen hearing system
September 6, 2018
— The Marine Corps released a request for information for industry input that identifies potential sources for a suite of hearing enhancement devices. The devices will protect Marines’ hearing while increasing their situational awareness in a variety of training and combat environments. Marine Corps Systems Command will assess the systems to ensure they are compatible with Marine Corps radios and the Marine Corps Enhanced Combat Helmet, or ECH. Systems can be circumaural or intra-aural but must include versions that are both communications enabled and versions that are not communications enabled.

MCSC teams with Marines to build world’s first continuous 3D-printed concrete barracks
August 23, 2018
— The Marine Corps is leading the way in employing advanced technologies and robotic construction. Earlier this month, the Additive Manufacturing Team at Marine Corps Systems Command teamed up with Marines from I Marine Expeditionary Force to operate the world's largest concrete 3D printer at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center in Champaign, Illinois. As a joint effort between the Marine Corps, Army and Navy Seabees, an expeditionary concrete 3D printer was used to print a 500-square-foot barracks hut in 40 hours.

MCTSSA tests Marine Corps network to make cyber systems stronger
August 17, 2018
— Command and control must be assured anywhere the Marine Air Ground Task Force operates, which requires in-depth testing to deliver success on the battlefield. Cyber security experts and engineers from Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity recently tested various systems within the Marine Corps Enterprise Network, or MCEN, to assess interoperability and cyber resiliency.
