Mission:

In order to support the acquisition and sustainment mission of the command, the OCIO provides IT products, services and infrastructure that enables the command to operate in a secure, collaborative, and robust information sharing environment.


Responsibilities:

The OCIO serves as principal advisor to the commander for issues regarding Information Technology (IT) and alignment of IT investments to business priorities and assigned missions. The OCIO oversees the effective use of information resources across organizations to successfully meet the goals and objectives required for delivery of required capabilities. Also, the OCIO supports the alignment of business processes through implementation of a segmented architecture and IT planning procedures. The OCIO works in collaboration with G6 for the protection of mission critical and mission essential systems through strengthened cyber security management, and technical controls.

The OCIO teams with command competency leaders to ensure core IT/Information Assurance (IA) workforce training, certification, education, and management requirements are identified, supported, and consistent with DON direction. The OCIO ensures compliance with DON and Marine Corps IM/IT directives, guidance, statutes, regulations, and policy. It is the CIO's goal to provide technical support for the commands Information Management (IM) and knowledge Management (KM) efforts, and promote effective and efficient design and operation of command level Information Resources Management processes.

Command Mission
To serve as the Department of the Navy's systems command for Marine Corps ground weapon and information technology system programs in order to equip and sustain Marine forces with full-spectrum, current and future expeditionary and crisis response capabilities..
